Recently, a prestigious and “alternative” furniture showroom in London is newsworthy. We are talking about Juliette’s Interiors, a luxury temple for final customers and Contract high-end operators. But its loyal (and wealthy) customers must not be afraid of any change: no poor materials, spartan shapes and street style, but a new, electronic and “invisible” method of payment: bitcoin.
Among tradition and progress, home interior design and tailored supplies, the company was named after Juliette Thomas and consumers who choose it are crowned heads, heads of state, celebrities and business magnates from all over the world. For 12 years (4 in the Chelsea showroom), its furniture gets into breathtaking houses, yachts and hotels and also architects, designers and luxury home builders find exclusive solutions for their demanding final consumers.
Henceforth, they can pay with bitcoins, a currency used anonymously through web servers. Transactions are protected by cryptographies whose keys are saved on one or more computers or personal devices otherwise at third parties (simulating the functions of a non-market virtual bank). Traditional banks have nothing to do with this system, since it is based on peer-to-peer, without any banking or governmental control which may block transfers, seize or implement a devaluation policy.
Also, Italian furniture or Italian Style elements of Juliette’s Interiors’ warehouses can be paid in bitcoins. Luxury Italian furniture, which has always been a pride of the Londoner company, incorporates contemporary and classic style, tailored color and fabric.
In the furniture sector, Juliette’s Interiors is the first in the United Kingdom to accept bitcoins and among few people in the world (maybe the only one among those who have a physical store). This is due to the constant ambition in Juliette Thomas’ attitude, the company’s founder. “As one of the first people in London to drive an all-electric Tesla car – says Juliette – I believe we have to look forward to prosper, in life as well as business”. Then, referring to the bitcoin diffusion, she forecasts: “Within 18 months, I think this will be a part of everyday life, just like the Tesla”.
