Outdoor desire: furniture for hybrid spaces

Europeans change their outdoor in a period between 3-6 years, compared to the 15 years for the rest of the furniture. That’s because the replacement is economically easier and more linked to the design and lifestyles evolution. Therefore, the tendency to use the outdoor furniture in the indoor is becoming increasingly important, fulfilling the wish to have open spaces in verandas, rooms, terraces and porches with wide screen windows.

Moreover, we are seeing today the opposite tendency of transforming open spaces and garden areas in delightful outdoor living corners where domestic layout comfort meets the specificity of open air with sofas and resistant and waterproof complements.

The border between outdoor and indoor is less and less clear, even in the use of materials and in the furniture design which leave wicker for aluminum, plastic, teak, wood and special upholstery for every space.

Especially for this flexibility, the attention for sustainability and safety is fundamental for the consumer. It must remain a constant for outdoor and indoor (for example, a tolerated volatility of dispersible substances in the open air could represent a problem in the indoor).

From a commercial point of view, “hybrid” affirmation hasn’t changed the denomination of outdoor segment, but the transformation. Demand on the world scenery has overall increased leading by USA market which enjoys a progressive rise in the residential construction. According to an estimate by Technavio which refers to the period 2017-2021, the sector will record a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3,95% in the USA.

European market follows the estimates, too. There seems to be a predominance of import, dictated by a wider availability of several raw materials (rattan, bamboo, wood) in Asia. A phenomenon that a leader company as Eurofar International decided to incorporate in its production processes.

The Dutch multinational produces in Vietnam and Indonesia, but it exports throughout the world, thanks to the high quality of its items and its capacity to manage every order without overlooking assistance (in the transport and custom documentation) and flexibility. It is not a coincidence if Eurofar is one of the first companies to employ the new “hybrid” tendency by mixing materials and renovating design.

Beyond its own collections, Eurofar is able to produce every furniture through customers’ indications. Before the production, the company carries out an articulate testing procedure. Samples are tested in relation to the weather conditions’ actions (with ©U-VAX brand for UV and bad weather resistance) and to their impact on health and environment. Eurofar possesses a Clean&Safety department and it issues FSC® (C117418), the eco-compatibility certificate.

Gabriele Magliola recently presented Eurofar catalogue 2018 at Spoga+Gafa, the international trade fair in Cologne.  During this occasion, products of the Dutch company attracted buyers who principally came from Lebanon, Turkey, Cyprus, Algeria, Jordan and UAE, reflecting the sector positive trend which is well influenced by the growth of new markets.
